ACTION POINTS \ MATTERS ARISING: The Minutes Secretary reported that the minutes had been posted on the website as agreed at the meeting on the 7th September 2011. CHAIRMANS REPORT: Piddle Lake. The delegates Christmas match would take place here on the 3rd December 2011. The draw would be at 9.00 a.m. fish 10.00 a.m. to 3.00p.m. £10 pools and sandwiches provided on the day. St. Clairs There had been no further movement on the sale of the farm and therefore it is business as usual as far as the Executive is concerned. Two anglers had been seen attending the water at unusual times driving a blue Rover 75. Their behaviour was suspicious and so they were challenged by the Assistant Superintendent Bailiff. They had WDUAA cards but were using barbed hooks. They were warned if they were caught using these hooks again they would be banned from our waters, cards or not. Members are asked to be vigilant. Rivers The Chairman reported that he had successfully procured a small reduction in lease charges for Beauchamp Court. Results continue to be poor from all the river venues due to the prevailing conditions. Wychavon The Chairman reported that he had been contacted by the organisers of the Championship advising that the match had been reduced to 70 pegs from 90 pegs which explained why a number of the allocated tickets had been removed. There are ongoing discussions about the possibility of an elimination match for local clubs. The Chairman has also been trying to arrange an inter association match with Evesham which will hopefully provide a route to qualification. PRESIDENT \ MATCH SECRETARY: The President reported that Chris Ponsford had been appointed full time EA Bailiff for our district. Contact would be made with him to discuss exchange of ideas. Terry Peckham would make the initial enquiries with Chris. The president believes that the recent flushes on the rivers although not yet sufficient will see an improvement in sport generally. FINANCE OFFICER: The Finance officer reported that the collection of tackle shop revenue was under way with a view to finalising end of year accounts. MINUTES SECRETARY: Nothing to report. SUPERINTENDANT BAILIFF: The recent lack of rain has had one beneficial impact in that it has made peg clearing and access much easier as there has been no significant bank growth. WATER ALLOCATION OFFICER: Nothing to report. RECORDS OFFICER: Not in attendance AOB: Notices of motion for the AGM to be notified to the Executive by the 7th December 2011. Meeting closed at 20.45 hours. Date of next meeting – Wednesday 7th December 2011. Delegates Meeting - Wednesday: 5th October 2011 at 20.00 hours. Colin Pettifer (President) Ray Ravenall (Chairman) Veronica Smith (Finance Officer \ Water Allocation) Robert Smith (Superintendent Bailiff) Terry Peckham (Assistant Superintendent Bailiff) Mark Hone (Minutes Secretary) David Smith (Executive Officer) Bernie Partridge (Executive Officer) APOLOGIES/ABSENCE: John Davies, Roy Wheeler. DELEGATES IN ATTENDANCE Rick Latham, Gerry Bartlett. MINUTES OF MEETING 7th SEPTEMBER 2011 The minutes were read and signed. ACTION POINTS \ MATTERS ARISING: Nil. CHAIRMANS REPORT: Piddle Lake. The water was still low due to the lack of rainfall and inevitably this has impacted on results. However a recent match was won with very good weights with the top weight in excess of 50lbs. St. Clairs There is speculation that the family of the recently deceased owner of St Clairs are considering a rental option on the property and land. It is hoped more detail will be available soon. The interclub match weights were down but the conditions were unseasonably hot and sunny. Nevertheless it was an enjoyable day. The match was won by Carrs Green and our congratulations go to them. A very nice letter had been received from Pat’s family who had celebrated his life by holding a wake on the poolside. They thanked us for our co-operation and hospitality while they were there. Rivers The Chairman reported that contract negotiations had been ongoing with the owners of Beauchamp Court for the 2012 season. There is no further update on the Wychavon ticket fiasco but we would persevere with our enquiries. PRESIDENT \ MATCH SECRETARY: The President expressed his disappointment but not surprise at a very low turnout for the Cavalier Cup, given the conditions. The winner had 9lbs with 6lb back up weights. Not a single roach was caught which at this time of the year is extraordinary. The winter league was due to start this Sunday 9th October 2011 in conditions more akin to midsummer fishing. We are still hoping for some decent rainfall to improve sport. There was a problem over a challenge made to a number of people fishing at Boreley by a member. The individuals did not have a permit but their attendance had been arranged with the President earlier in the month so they did have authorisation to fish and had paid peg fees to do so. The Executive would like to make it clear that challenging the apparent unauthorised individuals was absolutely the right thing to do and members are all authorised to act as bailiffs. However, we would urge members not to put themselves at risk. If resistance is met walk away and contact one of the Officers or the police. FINANCE OFFICER: Nothing to report. MINUTES SECRETARY: The Minutes Secretary agreed that Minutes would be posted to the website in advance of them being approved in future to avoid members making needless journeys to headquarters for meetings that are not scheduled. SUPERINTENDANT BAILIFF: No complaints have been received from clubs so it is assumed that venue access etc. is acceptable. Thanks to Alan Taylor who assisted Rob and Terry to remove a tree from a swim at St Clairs to make more pegs accessible. At the same venue Alan also dealt with the wasp nest on the car park peg. The scaffold peg at Boreley needs to be repaired and arrangements would be put in hand to address this. WATER ALLOCATION OFFICER: Nothing to report. RECORDS OFFICER: Not in attendance AOB: It was reported that a number of paper pegs with just numbers on them were found left in swims at Pensham. Clubs are reminded that club names have to appear on peg numbers and are not to be left at the venue. Meeting closed at 20.55 hours. Date of next meeting – Wednesday 2nd November 2011.
